The Dark Valley (Episode 39)

* THE DARK VALLEY *

                 { Chapter 39 }

           I took Rachel to my room and asked her to read a novel for me.

          I knew I hated novels but hearing her read for me with her sweet voice was amazing.

           I could also see in her face that she hated reading for me and stops sometimes.

             So I just tried to encourage her to keep reading for me.

         But she soon finally got tired of reading for me and she went back to the maids quarters.

        I just stood up from my bed and walked towards the balcony.

       I watched the skys like I have never seen them before.

         Just then I felt someone jump to my back and I wasn’t surprised to find Alkil.

         "So what do you want ", I said still looking at the sky.

         "I heard that the king of demons would have to get married to save the lives of all the demons “, he smirked in happiness.

         "I know your sister had told you ", I replied.

         "Yeah and don’t even think of getting married to Rachel ", he gave me a warning look.

        

        I finally looked at him and said, "are you threatening me ".

         "Am not just threatening you, am telling you because she loves me and wouldn’t want to have anything to do with you. So it’s better you don’t fall for her and get your heart broken ", he looked at me back in the eyes with a deadly tone. 

        Like seriously this guy is getting on my nerves, how dare he come right in front of me and threaten me.

          I just smiled at the courage he had gain to face him.

          "Fine, I wouldn’t marry Rachel but she will remain my maid and…I will let the both of you be together but she isn’t marrying you or leaving this palace either ",I said and just walked back inside.

              I could feel he was happy at his victory, but I just have to give up because I think this is what will make Rachel happy.

         To be sincere I saw when Rachel was with Alkil today and am not so surprised he had confronted me.

        I think it’s best if I let them be, I don’t want to be the cause of their separation.

            But still I have a bad feeling about this that’s why I have to keep an eye on them.

        They had announced Anthony and I to be the king and queen of this year’s prom.

         I jumped in happiness, I wasn’t expecting us to be crowned to the king and queen.

 

            I could see Jenny standing in the midst of the crowd with her face fuming in anger.

         I was going to rub this achievement on her ugly face she calls beautiful tomorrow.

            I immediately pulled Anthony along with me to the stage.

            He just smiled and followed me not surprised.

          This prom night was the best, after we collected the price.

           Anthony introduced me to all his friends who were the coolest and cutest guys in the school.

          I couldn’t believe I was in the midst of all the handsome guys in my school talking and laughing.

         I was blushing and freaking out internally but I just tried to act cool.

           After all the talking and introductions. Anthony decided to take me home since my dad wasn’t here to pick me up.

          "I can see your have a big smile on your face there", he said as he drove.

              "Everything still seems like a dream. I can’t believe I was chosen as this year’s prom queen ", I was excited .

           "That’s because you deserve it",he said.

         "Am not as beautiful as Jenny…I don’t think so", I said.

          "Why would you compare yourself with her. Don’t you know how beautiful you are ", he tried to assure me.

      "Are you sure ", I blushed.

           "Yes babe, absolutely sure. You looked like a goddess tonight and I couldn’t take my eyes off you", he said looking at me in the eyes before facing the road back.

           "If I looked like a goddess then why did you ignore at first “, I asked still angry about what had happened.

         "That was just an act. Deep down in me I wanted to rush to you and claim you", he said.

        "But why didn’t you “, I asked pretending to be angry.

          "That’s because I wanted to see how long you could hide the fact that I am your boyfriend ", he smirked.

             "You are so evil that you made me say it in front of the whole school “, I hit him on the chest.

          "I had only wanted to tell my friends but you decided to make it more harder ", he burst into laughter.

           I hit him on the chest again and he screamed, "owwww”, he pretended to be in pain.

        "Can’t you see am driving. Didn’t your parents told you not to hit a person that is driving “, he said again.

         But I only wanted to hit him more. He held my hands and said,"stop stop, you can beat me later after am through driving ".

             "You are a jerk “, I rolled my eyes and looked out the window.

       He finally got me home but it was too hard leaving him.

          "Why don’t you stay and have dinner “, I asked not wanting to let him go.

           "Babe, I know you don’t want me to go but still I have to. I need to attend to something important “, he said sincerely.

          "Alright But make sure to call me before you sleep this night ", I said disappointedly.

          "I wanna ask you something before I leave “, he said.

          "What’s that”, I was curious.

         "You know we are in our final year in school so…", he paused.

        "So what", I was beginning to let curiousity get the best of me.

             "I just want to know if you would like to get married to me after school “, he finally said.

         "Huh”, I said in shock as my jaw dropped.

            "Am off now”, he kissed me on my forehead and left before I could answer.

      

              **************( Rachel’s POV )**************

         I woke up the next morning hearing Troyal’s voice.

            "Wakie, wakie ", Troyal said. 

            "What are you doing here by this time ", I jumped from my bed and said.

          I was shocked and surprised to see her in her demon form.

            "Don’t worry about that, no one will know am here", she said as I looked to see Alice and Clara also sitting clos to me.

          "I just came to inform you that I heard that the king was going to choose a wife, for the safety of all the demons “, Troyal said.

           "Which means we have to put our plan on hold ", Clara said.

          "Yeah But can’t we still do something. What if the king eventually falls in love with someone else “,I asked.

            "No he won’t, trust me", Troyal said.

          "Why do you say so", Alice asked.

           "That’s because he already likes you", Troyal explained.

                 "What?? When”, I asked.

             "Didn’t you notice he treats you differently ", Troyal replied.

          "Which means we have to wait till the king has gotten a wife. But what are we going to do till then", Clara asked.

             "Just let Rachel enjoy with her love bird", Alice butted in.

           "What do you mean ", I gave an awkward smile scratching the back of my head.

         "You don’t have to pretend we already knew ", Troyal smiled at me.

          "What are you talking about. Alkil is not my love bird”, I tried it decline.

        "Ohhh you already started calling him by his name huh”, Clara grinned at me with a smile.

          "How did you know we were talking about prince Alkil by the way", Troyal also joined in the teasing.

      

          "You guys should just stop and concentrate on the big day ahead ", I tried to straighten their mind.

           "What are you going to do. You know you are going to leave Alkil behind ", Troyal said .

         "I haven’t thought about that yet. But I know it’s going to be hard leaving him but I have to do it for the sake of my parents ", I said determined not knowing the worst that was going to happen to me today.
